If you still believe in the power of Law Review and are gearing up to spend your post-finals vacation time plowing through a write-on packet, you will soon be well acquainted with the Bluebook (a.k.a. The Bluebook: A uniform system of Citation (Columbia Law Review Ass’n et al. eds., 18th ed. 2005).
Before I started my write-on packet last year, I scoured the internet for an electronic version of the Bluebook. No luck. Fortunately for this year’s 1Ls, the Harvard Law Review released an online version of the Bluebook a few months ago. Much write-on packet time is spent leafing through the Bluebook in search of obscure rules. An electronic search tool should relieve at least some of that pain.
The editors of the Bluebook 19th edition have also set up an online survey so current law review members and editors, who often know relevant Bluebook rules and page numbers by heart, can voice their criticisms and suggestions.
If, like many, you just plain hate the Bluebook, you may want to consider joining the abolition movement, or advocating for an alternative.
When an end is lawful and obligatory, the indispensable means to is are also lawful and obligatory .
