According to the O.C. Register's Orange County (Calif.) Business News blog, a group of Orange County Democratic and liberal leaders, investigative journalists and legal heavyweights led by California State Senator Joe Dunn will soon launch a non-profit online news site dedicated to “real-time investigative coverage” of the county.
Included in the lineup for the "Voice of O.C." board are U.C. Irvine School of Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky and Henry Weinstein, a founding faculty member at the new law school and a former Los Angeles Times reporter.
Here's a bit from the press release:
"Acknowledging the challenges facing any publication in this new era, Dunn said he placed special emphasis on recruiting the right mix of people for the Voice of OC board of directors. The board is extremely diverse and committed to investigative journalism as well as fundraising and providing assistance with public access lawsuits."
The press release doesn't mention it, but I wonder if we'll see some of Irvine's inaugural class helping out with this little endeavor.
